We are looking to add an experienced Senior Accountant to our Atlanta office. The Senior Accountant is an essential part of the Waverly Advisors team as they will play a key role in the day-to-day financial operations of the firm. This position is responsible for managing core accounting functions including payroll, general ledger accounting, journal entries, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in public or industry accounting, a commitment to process improvement, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and process semi-monthly payroll in collaboration with HR and external payroll providers.
  • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of entries.
  • Prepare and post journal entries in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including account reconciliations and variance analysis.
  • Assist with internal and external audits, providing supporting documentation and insights as needed.
  • Contribute to financial reporting and analysis to support business decisions.
  • Support compliance with regulatory and internal control requirements.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to streamline accounting operations.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with finance, operations, and leadership teams.

Travel:

  • Minimal travel is required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA strongly preferred.
  • 3–5 years of experience in public accounting or 5–7 years of industry accounting experience.
  • Prior audit experience required, familiarity with an RIA or financial services industry is preferred.
  • Solid understanding of US GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Strong proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities
