Position Description
Reporting to the Chief Advancement Officer, the Senior Vice President, Individual Giving (SVP, IG) will oversee all major gifts, mid-level giving and annual fund program portfolios and staff. They will provide connected strategy and executive leadership for the Federation’s growing philanthropic program focused on individual support.
The leader will manage a team including the Vice President, Major Gifts, as well as the Vice President, Individual Giving. They will partner closely with the CAO and Vice President, Strategic Philanthropy to inspire investment in the sport. They will also carry a focused portfolio of 40-50 donors at the principal giving level.
The ideal candidate demonstrates a proven ability to build and scale high-performing fundraising teams, unify comprehensive plans across individual donor portfolios, secure significant philanthropic support, and design and implement data-driven approaches that reflect donor motivations, strategic ambitions, and contributed revenue growth.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and lead a comprehensive individual giving program supporting strategy development, team management, and execution.
- Foster a collaborative, high-accountability environment across all individual philanthropy programs.
- Coach and support staff in portfolio optimization, solicitation strategy, stewardship planning, and multi-year revenue forecasting.
- Ensure brand and strategic alignment and integration across major giving, mid-level giving and annual fund programs.
- Establish multi-year plans and increased revenue goals aligned with the organization’s fundraising priorities.
- Maintain a personal portfolio of top prospects and donors, leading on qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
- Partner with the VP, Major Gifts, to design and help oversee a donor-centric major gifts program with a strong focus on six- and seven-figure commitments.
- Oversee and expand mid-level giving program.
- Work with Annual Fund team to rebuild and reimagine annual giving program built to acquire, renew, and upgrade donors toward major gifts pathways.
- Ensure consistent, compelling donor communications and multichannel campaigns aligned with the U.S. Soccer brand and mission.
- Champion data-driven audience segmentation, testing and analytics to grow participation and revenue.
- Partner with Advancement Operations to ensure robust data integrity, CRM utilization, reporting and pipeline forecasting.
- Establish KPIs to measure performance across major gifts, mid-level, and annual giving programs.
- Drive continuous improvement through testing, evaluation, and the adoption of best practices.
- Promote a culture of philanthropy across federation staff, stakeholders, and entire organization.
- Support overall goals of the Advancement team.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in related field required.
- 15+ years of experience in nonprofit fundraising with demonstrated success leading complex and nascent-stage individual giving programs and securing six- and seven-figure gifts.
- Experience managing senior- level fundraising and multi-tiered teams.
- Proven capabilities of building donor strategies at the highest levels and effectively engaging with executive partners, and high-net-worth individuals.
- Must be able to connect the "micro" details to the "macro" vision and mission
- Strong strategic thinking, communication skills, and comfort working in a fast-paced mission-drive, high-performance environment.
- Demonstrated ability to create data-driven programs, segment audiences, and manage revenue pipelines.
- Extraordinary collaborator and culture-builder.
- General knowledge of soccer.
- Proficient experience with Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook).
