What does a Sr. Dir. Commercial do at Rinnai?
The Senior Director will be responsible for driving the sales and profit of the Commercial Division working across cross-functional groups within a matrix organization. This position will be responsible for developing and implementing the overall strategies and programs to drive the various aspects of the commercial business including distribution, specification, and National Accounts (which encompasses turnkey services). The position will also be responsible for the day-to-day management of the National Accounts Services team as well as the Application Engineering group. The Senior Director will also be a key member of a cross-functional group whose purpose is to identify, analyze, plan, and implement potential acquisition and partner opportunities to expand Rinnai into new categories. This position reports to the Vice President. Key member of the Rinnai Leadership team.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Development and execution of objectives, strategies, and tactics in
- coordination with the Vice President and other applicable team members.
- Lead the collaboration with Sales Directors to ensure commercial business
- strategies are being implemented in the field.
- Establish key business metrics and routine systemic reporting creating a data[1]driven decision making and transparency-based culture.
- Collaborate in the commercial business planning process in key markets.
- Build process and infrastructure that allows the company to successfully
- respond and to secure a greater volume of profitable commercial projects.
- Manage the commercial P&L to achieve annual sales and gross margin targets
- in-order to grow the business.
- Cultivate market sales opportunities for revenue producing services by
- identifying mechanical system and process improvements, new energy
- efficiency technology applications and/or retrofits in the commercial market.
- Provide project management for customer energy applications including
- equipment recommendations, installation, implementation, and coordination.
- Provide technical assessment and equipment recommendations for
- commercial customers' mechanical systems and processes.
- Develop strong relationships with those who influence customers' equipment
- purchase decisions including facility managers, equipment vendors,
- engineering consultants and federal and state energy agency personnel,
- architects, engineers, and other design consultants.
- Work with marketing to define market segmentation to develop effective
- sales collateral and marketing activities to support commercial sales.
- Responsible for compiling competitive analysis (prices, strategies, strengths,
- market share, weakness, etc.)
- Preparation of annual sales budget in conjunction with senior management
- staff.
- Responsible for assisting in the development and launches of new products.
- Provide VOC on commercial activities to Rinnai leadership.
- Selection, hiring and retaining of Commercial Division personnel.
REQUIREMENTS:
KNOWLEDGE
- Bachelor’s degree in business management, engineering, or
- related field required.
- MBA preferred, but not required.
- Minimum 10+ years of managing a commercial business.
- Experience and understanding of how to work in a 2-step
- distribution model.
- Demonstrated experience in profitably growing a business through
- implementation of key strategies and programs.
- Experience in the commercial hot water industry: specification and
- project acquisition or HVAC backgrounds dealing with commercial
- accounts highly preferred.
- Experience in successfully developing and launching new products.
SKILLS
- Understanding of the changing marketplace and ability to adapt to
- change.
- Strong team player.
- Understanding of distribution and National Account channels
- Project management experience is preferred.
- Successful experience in driving a commercial business in a matrix environment.
ABILITIES
- Proficiency in managing and profitably operating a commercial
- business.
- Strong Customer Service orientation.
- Ability to operate effectively with minimal supervision.
- Proactively provide VP with new strategies and processes to grow the business.
