Role Overview
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the research, design, and development of systems, processes, machines, tooling, and equipment for manufacturing processes. This role provides leadership to Production Engineering Technicians and oversees their direction, coordination, and evaluation. The position ensures quality, efficiency, and safety in manufacturing while managing projects and driving process improvements that support long-term operational success.

Responsibilities & Key Performance Indicators
- Collaborate with and provide technical guidance to Production Engineering Technicians to support manufacturing initiatives.
- Evaluate, improve, and standardize manufacturing processes, equipment, and tooling for efficiency, quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
- Conduct root cause analyses and recommend design, tolerance, or process changes to enhance production performance.
- Manage and track capital projects, including justification, selection, design, and implementation, ensuring completion on time, within budget, and scope.
- Collaborate with design engineering to develop manufacturing methods for new products and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide manufacturing decision-making support by calculating production, labor, and material costs, reviewing production schedules, and estimating future requirements.
- Identify and implement solutions related to safety, quality, productivity, efficiency, and cost reductions.
- Apply continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles to refine processes.
- Track project performance to ensure successful completion of short- and long-term goals
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering and 5 years of progressively complex engineering experience. Proven working experience in engineering and project management.
- Knowledge of mechanical processes, tooling, fabrication, assembly, and materials.
- Leadership experience, including team development, performance management, and conflict resolution.
- Experience with capital equipment justification and implementation.
- Well-versed in relevant software (i.e., CAD, MS Office)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to read blueprints, drawings, or schematics
- Strong problem solving/troubleshooting skills
- Significant interaction with team, internal/external customers, and vendors
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced understanding of safety, environmental, and quality standards in manufacturing.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills; ability to foster a positive team culture.
- Strong understanding of plastic tooling and processes is a plus

Salary & Benefits
The salary range for this position is $[80,000]– $[106,000] annually. This range is a good faith estimate of what Hoshizaki America expects to pay for this role. Actual pay may vary based on experience, education, skills, and internal equity.
