Outage Communications & Operational Systems Support

Job Summary

The Distribution Specialist provides operational support for outage communications, reporting, dashboards, storm response applications, and other distribution support tools. This role serves as a liaison between Distribution Operations, Customer Care, Technology Organization (TO), field personnel, and leadership to ensure system reliability, data accuracy, effective customer communications, and user readiness. The position supports both daily operations and storm restoration activities through reporting, training, system administration, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support outage communication platforms, reporting tools, dashboards, and operational applications.

  • Monitor and validate operational data to ensure accuracy and support informed decision-making.

  • Support customer communication processes and assist with maintaining consistent and effective outage messaging.

  • Partner with business stakeholders, Technology Organization (TO), vendors, and support organizations to troubleshoot system issues and implement solutions.

  • Assist with application administration activities, including user access, profile maintenance, and system readiness.

  • Facilitate, develop, and maintain user training materials, standard operating procedures, job aids, and user documentation.

  • Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for system upgrades, enhancements, and new technologies.

  • Support storm preparation, restoration activities, and emergency operations, including participation in storm duty rotations and extended operational support as needed.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and support continuous improvement initiatives across Distribution Operations.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in utility operations, outage communications, operational technology, reporting, customer service, or related fields.

  • Ability to analyze operational data and translate findings into actionable business insights.

  • Experience supporting enterprise applications, business processes, and technology solutions.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities in a fast-paced operational environment.

  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and priorities while meeting deadlines.

  • Availability to support storm restoration efforts, emergency response activities, and after-hours operational needs when required.

Skills & Education

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration , Technology, Communications, or a related discipline preferred.

  • Relevant utility operations, customer service, technology support, or outage management experience desired.

Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, and Power BI.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience developing reports, training materials, and business documentation.

  • Knowledge of electric utility operations, outage restoration processes, and distribution operations preferred.

  • Ability to build collaborative relationships across multiple organizations and stakeholder groups.

  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills.

  • Basic computer skills required.
