Georgia Power Company (GPC); Reliability Engineering Supervisor II – Distribution Reliability
Reports to: Dylan Lee, Distribution Reliability & Automation Manager
Location: Daily reporting location is flexible. The Distribution Reliability Engineering Supervisor will support a team of Reliability Engineers and Power Quality specialists around the state and will occasionally require travel to support their efforts. Schedule may change from time to time to accommodate special projects, storm restoration, customer needs or other aspects of your job.
This role is responsible for multiple aspects of GPC Distribution Reliability strategy, execution and development of personnel. This job will be posted at a level 7E. Relocation assistance may be provided if needed.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education / Certification Requirements:
4-year Accredited Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree or equivalent required
Professional Engineer's License is a plus
Experience Requirements:
Power Delivery Field Engineering and Operating experience is required.
A minimum of 2 years of related Power Delivery experience as a supervisor is preferred.
Technical knowledge in Distribution Reliability, Distribution Planning, System Protection, and/or DER interconnections is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Proven knowledge of the Distribution systems, policies, and procedures, demonstrates understanding of Section 0, Distribution Bulletins and SDOP
Recognized proficiency in Southern Company leadership competencies in previous positions and understanding of customer service needs
Communicates well through written reports, well organized presentations, and oral discussions
Strong understanding and expertise in data management
Interacting with internal and external customers on technical and political issues
Ability to deal with heavy workloads, multiple tasks, and conflicting demands
Ability to effectively engage at all levels of GPC and SO leadership hierarchy
Experience using Microsoft Office tools is a plus.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The Distribution Reliability Supervisor will lead a team of 20+ technical experts and provide project approval and governance for Distribution system reliability projects. This leader will have statewide responsibility for Corporate Reliability program, project selection, solution development and approvals.
Oversees $75M+ distribution reliability budget for worst performing feeders, SCADA device additions/upgrades and other strategic investment initiatives. Role provides support and guidance for Area Reliability projects, Grid Investment program, SPP organization, system upgrades, asset management and Southern Company Generation projects.
Lead for GPC PD system reliability indices, reporting and goal achievement. Includes severe weather exclusions are documented for indices.
Serve and lead industry committees as well as supporting PSC and EIA reporting for reliability metrics.
Works directly with Distribution Areas and their leadership, other departments and Operating Companies to develop innovative and cost-effective solutions for improving the reliability of the distribution system.
Proactively build and maintain partnerships with associates in Transmission, SCM, Sales, and other organizations.
Provides support for other activities and projects as assigned.
