National Accounts Project Coordinator

The National Accounts team serves as a single, strategic point of contact—representing the full breadth of Southern Company’s capabilities—for some of the company’s most complex and influential national customers. The Project Coordinator role is responsible for providing support to 2-3 National Account Managers who focus on direct customer relationships and strategic engagement. Support activities range from new project intake, billing inquiries, rate analysis, issue resolution, outage management, data reporting (KPIs, dashboards) and more.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to customer inquiries regarding billing questions, service issues, outages, programs, incentives, etc. and provide proactive communication to ensure high satisfaction

  • Understand and explain complex rate structures to customers; conduct annual rate analysis including real-time pricing evaluations for major customers

  • Aid in project managing construction of new facilities, installation of EV charging and resiliency solutions, expansion of existing buildings, and more involving internal and external cross-functional teams

  • Conduct market/customer research; create presentations for internal leadership and customer meetings

  • Assist in facilitating customer meetings and following up on action items from the discussion

  • Provide effective storm response and outage communication

  • Build and foster relationships with internal partners across the enterprise which can be leveraged to support customer requests and ensure the highest level of service for assigned accounts

  • Support company sales goals of unregulated products (end use, outdoor lighting, energy services, etc.) and participation in regulated programs for managed customers

  • Develop regular and ad hoc customer communication in compliance with company branding standards; improve customer communication by leveraging technologies such as AI

  • Coordinate marketing materials, branded apparel, and booth resources for semi-annual EEI National Key Accounts conferences

  • Work with cross-functional teams to develop and implement comprehensive reporting and analytics strategies to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the National Accounts team

Education, Experience & Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related field required

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience required; experience in sales, customer service, and/or pricing within an electric utility is preferred

  • Strong computer proficiency, project management, and complex data analysis/reporting experience is required

  • Experience with internal tools and systems, including rate analysis (BillGen), billing systems (CSS/CIT), outage tracking (IDMS/OUA), and project management platforms (OSC/PowerClerk) preferred

  • Experience with customer relationship management (CRM) systems, project tracking tools, and data analysis strategies.

  • Knowledge of customer program offerings including energy efficiency, renewables, distributed energy resources, clean transportation, outdoor lighting, etc

  • Role involves occasional travel (<10%), including out of state
