JOB SUMMARY
This position provides clerical and customer service support for the operations of the municipal court.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Imports and processes citations.
- Prepares and processes bench warrants and license suspensions.
- Responds to e-mails; answers telephone and greets visitors; provides information and assistance; takes messages; refers to appropriate personnel.
- Receives and accounts for money paid for fines.
- Files and completes forms and records.
- Files motions, conflict letters, and resets.
- Attends court; enters sentences, fine amounts, and probation and warrant information.
- Maintains and updates daily and weekly statistic reports.
- Reconciles jail funds, and daily court deposits.
- Schedule, prepare, and conduct inmate virtual 1st appearances.
- Prepare courtroom for court and breakdown.
- Prepare court calendar for court proceedings.
- Updates website to include bond schedules and court information.
- Enters purchase order requisitions.
- Monitors court appointed attorneys list and billing statements.
- Maintains office supply inventory.
- Receives and processes mail.
- Performs related duties.
- Knowledge of Municipal Court policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
- Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.

The Chief Court Clerk assigns work in terms of general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.
GUIDELINES
Guidelines include the GCIC and NCIC rules and regulations, court standard operating procedures, and the Georgia Municipal Clerks' reference manual. These guidelines are generally clear and specific but may require some interpretation in application.
COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK
- The work consists of related clerical and customer service duties. Frequent interruptions contribute to the complexity of the position.
- The purpose of this position is to provide support for the day-to-day operations of the court office. Successful performance contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of court operations.
- Contacts are typically with co-workers, other city employees, law enforcement personnel, attorneys, judges, and members of the general public.
- Contacts are typically to exchange information, resolve problems, and provide services.
- The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching or stooping. The employee frequently lifts light and occasionally heavy objects.
- The work is typically performed in an office.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
- Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
- Must become Security and Awareness and Operations GCIC certified within one month of employment.
