BASIC PURPOSE: The Director of Sales is responsible for all property sales and marketing functions as directed by the GM
FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
TOP PRIORITIES: The Director of Sales is responsible to drive top line revenues through frequent goal setting, team motivation, and the development and execution of strategic sales strategies. Using a collaborative approach that inspires teamwork and individual team member professional development, the Director of Sales is to lead through mentorship, coaching and ongoing skills training. The Director of Sales will ensure proactive top and target account management and advance the sales culture throughout the hotel.
· Maintain and promote a teamwork environment with effective and clear communication amongst co-workers through positive leadership
· Develop and conduct persuasive verbal sales presentations to prospective clients
· Develop a complete knowledge and ensure adherence to SUN Development sales policies and SOPs
· Drive customer loyalty to grow share of the account by delivering service excellence throughout each customer experience
· Manage RFP Season Annually with the help from GM, Regional DOS, Revenue Management and National Sales
· Ensure all pertinent aspects of solicitation, closing, and customer communications are complete and documented for the team
· Ensure the development of a strategic account plan for the demand generators in the market.
· Identify and pursue new and repeat business through prospecting calls, visits, site tours, lunches, and networking events
· Prepare annual marketing/business and budget plans
· Participate in forecasting for revenue and expenses
· Conduct ongoing competitor price and product analysis to ensure proper rate positioning and product offering relative to competition
· Recommend and implement new sales programs at the hotel and accurately track ROI
· Initiate collateral and online marketing efforts to include all printed sales collateral, direct mail, discount promotions, e-mail marketing, website presence and tracks ROI on all advertising and marketing spend
· Abide by Prime-Time Selling hours
· Perform any other job-related duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Education: No formal education required
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years in progressive hotel experience with leadership responsibilities
- Hospitality Sales and Management: 3 years (Required).
- Previous Director of Sales experience required.
- Full-service hotel with conference center experience preferred.
ENVIRONMENT:
Mobility:
Total mobility is required, with outside sales visits, property tours and competitive set driving occurring at the direction of the GM
Hearing/Vision/Speech:
· One-on-one communication with guests, supervisors, and coworkers is critical
· Must be able to receive, understand and give directions within the Sales Department
· Must be able to clearly communicate property, company and contract information to clients
· Must have exceptional written and verbal skills, as well as ability to compose professional and articulate emails and written communication
· Must be able to understand, compile and submit reports in an efficient manner
