The Loan Origination Team Leader is responsible for the leadership of the Loan Origination team which includes loan underwriting, processing loan applications, processing loan documentation, assigning loan applications, research and handling disputes. This position is a key member of the Loan Origination team in a fast-paced environment. The primary responsibilities are to oversee the processes of consumer loans from application status to disbursement and ancillary penetration, while cultivating an inspiring team environment. They will proactively research and investigate new ideas to create innovative strategies and perform to established metrics used to measure customer satisfaction. They will stay abreast of industry trends, development and changes. While working in cooperation with others to further company goals and build a positive team attitude. The Team Leader ensures employees process the loans pursuant to credit union guidelines while providing the highest level of member service. They perform the daily duties of manager/team leader/staff in their absence. The Team Leader ensures all procedures are kept current as well as ensures staff members are kept abreast on all changes to credit union policies, procedures, federal and state regulations. They also assist with special initiatives or projects.

Essential Functions:
• Work closely with leadership on process performance within the loan origination operation, which includes personnel selection, employee performance assessment, staff development, process performance monitoring, and procedure change management.
• Create an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture.
• Set clear team goals and monitors team’s performance against its service level agreement for loan origination, including tracking data and addressing internal/external member escalations.
• Delegate tasks and set deadlines.
• Oversee day-to-day operations for underwriting, loan processing, and/or loan consulting.
• Monitor team performance and report on metrics.
• Resolve complex work problems and fills in or assist as necessary.
• Work with team to resolve all consumer loan audits.
• Work with other departments to effectively communicate, problem solve and resolve escalated service failures to members.
• Multitask in all facets of loan processes and procedures.
• Access and interpret member information via Meridian Link Consumer (fka LoansPQ) Loan Origination System and Symitar computer systems.

Job Qualifications
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Required Minimum Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 4+ years’ loan origination and underwriting experience.
• Knowledgeable in all loan operations functions including all consumer loans and ancillary products.
• Working knowledge of Reg B, Reg Z, FCRA, and Banking Regulations as they apply to consumer lending.
• Extensive understanding of financial ratios, credit reports, credit cards, loan products, loan documentation, loan underwriting and the lending regulatory arena.
• Proficient in the use of office productivity technology, such as Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• High level of energy, creativity, and independent thinking.
• Self-motivated and results driven with ability to communicate and influence effectively with team and other departments.
• Ability to balance multiple tasks and proactively prioritize work under challenging conditions.
• Familiar with current competitive, economic, and regulatory environment of credit unions, banks, and consumer finance operations.
• Ability to consistently deliver a high level of customer-focused service.
• Strong leadership and organizational skills.
• Flexible/adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong team orientation and ability to build collaborative working relationships.
• Available to work a rotating 6-day schedule (Monday - Friday) with hours between 8:00 am and 6 pm and from 8:30 am until 1 pm on Saturday.
• Minimal travel required.
• A successful candidate should possess the following competencies: Creativity and Innovation, Decision Making, Interactive Communications, Relationship Building, Results Management.
• Complies with all Credit Union policies and procedures including those related to Bank Secrecy Act regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, or a related field of study.
• 2+ years’ supervisory experience in a loan origination and underwriting environment.
• Previous experience with MeridianLink Consumer (fka LoansPQ) Loan Origination System and DocuSign.
• Experience in credit union or financial services industry.
• Knowledge of Delta Community Credit Union procedures and policies.
