JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for supporting the marketing, tourism promotion, and community engagement efforts of Visit Peachtree City through strategic social media management, website maintenance and enhancement, event coordination, and marketing support services. The Special Events & Marketing Coordinator serves as a key contributor to the organization’s public presence by creating engaging digital content, assisting with promotional campaigns, supporting tourism and sales initiatives, and coordinating logistics for community and tourism-related events hosted by Visit Peachtree City.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· Manages and maintains Visit Peachtree City’s social media platforms through content creation, scheduling, engagement monitoring, photography/video coordination, and audience interaction.
· Assists in developing and implementing strategic marketing campaigns to promote tourism, events, local businesses, and community initiatives.
· Updates, enhances, and maintains the Visit Peachtree City website, ensuring content remains current, visually engaging, accurate, and user-friendly.
· Creates digital and print marketing materials including social media graphics, flyers, newsletters, presentations, advertisements, and promotional content.
· Coordinates logistics and operational support for Visit Peachtree City hosted events, festivals, tourism activations, ribbon cuttings, and community engagement initiatives.
· Assists with vendor coordination, sponsorship fulfillment, event setup and breakdown, volunteer coordination, and on-site event management.
· Supports the Marketing & Sales Manager with tourism sales initiatives, promotional partnerships, visitor engagement strategies, and special projects.
· Captures and organizes photography and video content for use across marketing platforms, social media, and promotional campaigns.
· Monitors tourism, hospitality, and social media trends to identify opportunities to increase engagement and destination visibility.
· Assists in maintaining marketing calendars, event schedules, campaign timelines, and organizational promotional materials.
· Works collaboratively with local businesses, hotels, restaurants, attractions, and community partners to promote tourism-related opportunities and events.
· Responds to visitor inquiries through social media, website channels, email communication, and in-person interactions at tourism and community events.
· Assists in tracking marketing analytics and social media performance metrics to evaluate campaign effectiveness and audience engagement.
· Represents Visit Peachtree City at community meetings, tourism events, trade shows, networking functions, and promotional activities as assigned.
· Supports general office and administrative functions related to tourism promotion, event coordination, and marketing operations.
· Performs additional duties as assigned in support of Visit Peachtree City’s mission and organizational goals.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION
· Knowledge of social media platforms, digital marketing trends, and content management strategies.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to create engaging marketing content.
· Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and event logistics simultaneously.
· Knowledge of website management platforms and basic website editing principles preferred.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with graphic design and social media scheduling tools preferred.
· Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with team members and community partners.
· Strong customer service and public relations skills.
· Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, for events and community activities as needed.
SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
The Marketing Manager assigns work in terms of general instructions.
GUIDELINES
Guidelines include event guidelines and requirements, city ordinances and city and department policies and procedures. These guidelines require judgment, selection and interpretation in application.
COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK
· The work consists of varied administrative and program coordination duties. The necessity of coordinating with a variety of stakeholders contributes to the complexity of the work.
· The purpose of this position is to coordinate and execute the department's marketing and special event functions. Successful performance in this position contributes to the success of Visit Peachtree City.
CONTACTS
· This position works closely with the Marketing & Sales Manager, city departments, tourism partners, local businesses, vendors, and community stakeholders to help promote Peachtree City as a premier destination to visit, stay, shop, dine, and host events. The position requires strong communication skills, creativity, organization, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
· Contacts are typically with coworkers, other city personnel, volunteers, business leaders, stakeholders and partners, CVB board, elected and appointed officials, and the general public.
· Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, resolve problems, provide services, and motivate people.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing or stooping. The employee frequently lifts light objects. The work is typically performed in an office and outdoors.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, tourism, public relations, event management, or a related field preferred.
· Experience in social media management, marketing, tourism promotion, event coordination, or related communications work preferred.
· Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
