Job Description
Experience
- Five years of experience in pediatric phlebotomy
Preferred Qualifications
- One year of employment at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta
- Experience as a preceptor
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Basic Life Support (BLS)
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
Certification Summary
- American Society for Clinical Pathology phlebotomy registration or eligible
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strives for adult-adult relationships with colleagues, subordinates, and superiors
Job Responsibilities
- Performs technical and clerical functions of phlebotomist as outlined in job description.
- Uses critical thinking principles in making decisions that lead to desired outcomes.
- Provides leadership and technical support for phlebotomy staff.
- Manages workflow and daily tasks.
- Trains/orients new employees.
- Performs administrative tasks to ensure services are delivered in a financially responsible manner through management of staff scheduling, workload reporting, supply inventory, and purchasing.
- Demonstrates familiarity with and follows system and departmental policies and procedures, including those pertaining to safety and compliance.
- Maintains and monitors equipment, supplies, and work area.
- Ensures safe environment which is functional as well as professional in appearance and safe for patients, the public, and staff.
- Actively promotes a lean culture by performing duties to promote an understanding and consistent use of lean principals and processes.
- Performs duties, makes decisions, takes actions, and continually strives to improve work processes using an awareness of how work performed is valued by the customer.
- Performs other duties as required by the department.
