Job Description

Provides leadership and management of clinical and business operations for programs and locations within the orthopedic and sports medicine service line. Providers high-quality sports medicine services to local Metro Atlanta athletes in the outreach setting. Performs other duties, coverages, and responsibilities as appointed by the sports medicine management team. Functions effectively as a member of the sports medicine team. Supports the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta mission. Proactively supports efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and promote a safe environment at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and contracted work setting.

Experience

  • 5 years of clinical experience in nursing, management, health administration, sports medicine, or physical or occupational therapy
  • 2 years of experience in management/leadership/sales

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or entry level Master’s degree in related field from an accredited program
  • Certified by NATA’s board of certification
  • Maintains current licensure by the state of Georgia or eligible to apply
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Clinical competencies in treatment aspects for sports medicine patients
  • Adhere to NATA best practices, and state laws of practice related to athletic training in Georgia
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule and perform a variety of work related tasks as needed
  • Good mental and physical health
  • Must be able to successfully pass the Basic Windows Skill Assessment at 80% or higher rating within 30 days of employment

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversees and manages performance of all assigned staff, including selection, orientation, time call, coaching, and performance evaluation.
  • Assists with preparation of budget and monitors budget performance through ongoing assessment of scheduling, staffing, supplies and equipment, and marketing.
  • Evaluates and makes recommendations for business development and expansion opportunities.
  • Assess, identifies, and implements opportunities for additional gains in access, quality, and process/program improvement.
  • Fosters a positive environment for team collaboration and effective problem solving.
  • Participates with responsible director and/or designee in development and implementation of program policies and procedures.
  • Establishes, implements, and monitors goals and objectives consistent with the goals of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
  • Mentor team members to encourage personal and professional growth.
  • Encourages ongoing skill development by providing opportunities for continued education.
  • Builds relationships with key stakeholders, communicating progress towards key performance indicators.
  • Demonstrates clinical competence in the provision of effective service delivery appropriate to the patient’s specific needs and diagnosis.
  • Understands medical diagnosis and treatment interventions.
  • Follows established rehabilitation protocols based on diagnosis.
  • Provides education to parent and patients in an ongoing fashion via text, phone, or email.
  • Completes injury documentation with appropriate content on each patient and submits daily.
  • Demonstrates effective use of time for direct and indirect patient care and departmental responsibilities.
  • Demonstrates commitment to continuous professional growth and improvement.
  • Delivers competent age-appropriate patient care, integrating infection control and body substance precautions, patient safety, body mechanics, and knowledge of growth and development.
  • Identifies patient/family need for services from ancillary departments and provides follow-up and referral as necessary.
  • Participates in maintaining and monitoring the work environment to ensure a continual state of Joint Commission readiness.
